Baby First Food Recipes
A selection of wholesome baby food recipes ideal as your baby's first foods. These recipes are intended for babies 4 months and up, but please always check with your pediatrician to ensure your baby is ready to start solids.
Baby First Food Recipes:
Baby's First Pumpkin Puree
Ingredients:
1 cup pumpkin (peeled and chopped)
Directions:
Boil or steam pumpkin until tender and drain water. Blend or process with a little breast milk, formula or cooled boiled water until smooth.
Makes 1 cup, Suitable for freezing.
Baby's First Potato Puree
Ingredients:
1 cup potato (peeled and chopped)
Directions:
Boil or steam pumpkin until tender and drain water. Blend or process with a little breast milk, formula or cooled boiled water until smooth.
Makes 1 cup, Suitable for freezing.
Apricot & Rice Cereal
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups dried apricots 3 cups water 4 tablespoons rice cereal 2/3 cup formula or breast milk (warmed)
Directions:
Place apricots and water in a pan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for approximately 20 minutes or until apricots are tender. Transfer apricots and water to blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Mix cereal in a bowl with breast milk or formula. Serve cereal topped with apricot puree.
Makes approximately 2 1/2 cups, Suitable for freezing.
Banana & Rice Cereal
Ingredients:
1 banana (peeled and chopped) 4 tablespoons rice cereal 2/3 cup formula or breast milk (warmed)
Directions:
For a smoother consistency, blend banana with a little cooled boiled water. For a thicker consistency mash banana using a fork. Mix rice cereal in a bowl with breast milk or formula. Serve cereal topped with chopped or blended banana puree.
Makes 1 1/2 cups, Suitable for freezing.
Pear & Rice Cereal
Ingredients:
1 pear (peeled and chopped) 4 tablespoons rice cereal 2/3 cup formula or breast milk (warmed)
Directions:
Boil or steam pear until tender. Blend pear with a little cooled boiled water. For a thicker consistency you can also mash pear using a fork. Mix rice cereal in a bowl with breast milk or formula. Serve cereal topped with chopped or blended pear puree.
Makes 1 1/2 cups, Suitable for freezing.
Apple & Pear Delight
Ingredients:
1 apple (peeled and cored) 1 pear (peeled and cored) 1 cup water
Directions:
Chop apple and pear into small chunks. Place diced apple, pear and water in a pan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for approximately 5 minutes or until apple and pear are tender. Drain liquid reserving a little bit for blending. Transfer apple and pear to blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Add reserved liquid as necessary. Serve on its own or with a little rice cereal or baby yogurt.
Makes 1 1/2 cups, Suitable for freezing.
Avocado & Potato Mash
Ingredients:
1 potato (peeled and chopped) 1/2 avocado (peeled and chopped)
Directions:
Boil or steam potato until tender and drain water. Blend or process with a little breast milk, formula or cooled boiled water until smooth. Mash avocado in separate bowl using a fork. Serve potato pureed mixed with mashed avocado.
Makes 1 1/2 cups, Suitable for freezing.
