Recipe For Cereal Sticks, For Toddlers

You can do more with cereal than just add milk!  Here is a recipe that makes great on the go toddler food that you can make up in advance and then let them grab as then feel the need.

Cereal Sticks

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour (white, whole wheat or mixed)
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup (or more) of cereal, such as Grape-Nuts, granola or wheat germ.

Directions:

Take the first six ingredients and 1/4 cup of the cereal and blend.  Add more flour if your dough appears to be too soft.  Take a piece of dough and roll it into a stick, roll the stick into the left-over cereal to make a coating.  You can get any kid involved in this who's ever played with play-doh, they'll know exactly what to do.  Place sticks on baking sheet that's greased lightly and bake in the over at 400F for 8 minutes or until golden brown.
